

Cold MorningThe cold wind chilled to the bone as the boy stepped from his front door into the dark street. The only light came from the streetlights and the clouds which were turning brighter as the sun rose in the east. The sky this morning was completely masked, there would be no color. As he walked down his street he saw only his shadow from the lights of a car directly behind and his shadow from the streetlights. As he walked there was one constant theme: the plants were speaking. Not in words but instead in clicks as if all the leaves and branches were their own individual selves, speaking and living together in great clumps

Speakers on the pier claimed loudly that this was the final boat away from the shores of the corrupted, desolate, country which these ragged and war torn people needed to the face in their lives. The HilltopA rustling outside the tent awaked the man. Peering outside of his tent he saw the deer lazily chewing grass nearby. The mans sudden appearance startled the deer but it remained, staring the man directly in the eyes for a few moments before going back to its breakfast.The Hilltop
All he could do was sit and watch the deer eat, moments like these didnt come often for him, his job was an unfulfilling one without large amounts of vacation time for him to see nature and live with it.
After a few minutes the deer finished its meal, it only looked at the man for another moment before it hopped off into the woods in the early morning.


The DepressionThe man had been freshly woken from a restful night of sleep by the ships horns. He limped away from his bed and made for the dim light of the exit and walked towards the deck. The light from the Sun stung his eyes as he emerged from the dark depths of the ship to morning light above.The Depression
It was a welcomed sign for him. His family had departed for new hope and chance in America 2 years ago and he had yearned to do the same. He worked for the whole time on sparsely seeded farms in his hometown saving all he could, even stealing food to survive, just so he could follow in his familys steps.
